What version of DataExchange should I use with a new installation of Pervasive PSQL v10 SP3?
For new installations of Pervasive PSQL v10 SP3, use DataExchange 3.0, build number 3.0.060.000 or later. Prior versions of DataExchange 3.0 will not install with PSQL v10 SP3. Download the latest release here.
Will a currently installed DataExchange 3.0 work with a PSQL Server upgrade to v10 SP3?
Yes.
What version of DataExchange is compatible with Pervasive PSQL v9?
Pervasive PSQL v9 requires DataExchange 2.8.
What version is compatible with Pervasive PSQL v10?
DataExchange 3.0 is compatible with Pervasive PSQL v10.10 but will not run on prior versions of PSQL. To update PSQL v10 to v10.10, download the free patch from the Pervasive Products Updates page.
Is DataExchange compatible with Windows Vista?
DataExchange 3.0 is compatible with Windows Vista.
Can I run DataExchange on a Novell or Linux server?
No, DataExchange is currently only available for Windows platforms.
Can I use DataExchange with other database platforms (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.)?
No. DataExchange is only available for the Pervasive PSQL database.
What configuration changes to my application or PSQL are required to use DataExchange?
Pervasive recommends you review the DataExchange Getting Started Guide to understand the changes required. Generally, there are no changes required for the application. You will need to change the database setting "Use System Key" and rebuild the data files prior to configuration.
Do I need Data Dictionary Files (DDF's)?
If you're using the Real-Time Backup Edition, no DDF's are required. Certain advanced features of the Data Synchronization Edition may require SQL access and therefore require DDF's.
Is there a limit to the number of replicated sites I can have?
No. DataExchange can replicate from one to as many sites as needed.
How often can I replicate data between sites?
The replication scheduler supports two modes of replication: continuous mode and scheduled interval. In addition, replication can be scheduled daily, monthly, or by date range.
Can I use my existing Btrieve based application with DataExchange?
Yes. The Real-time Backup Edition does not require any changes to your application, so it should work with most Btrieve applications. However, the Data Synchronization Edition may require database changes for advanced features.
What type of licensing is required for DataExchange?
DataExchange requires a user count license equal to or greater than your existing database license. For example, if you have a 20-user license for Pervasive PSQL, you would need a 20-user DataExchange license.
