Thank you for your interest in Pervasive AuditMaster v8. Designed to meet the need for data safety and compliance with privacy and accountability practices, AuditMaster fits seamlessly into your environment. It offers you the ability to implement the data monitoring solution you need without changes to your database or overlying applications.

AuditMaster is an offering in the Pervasive product suite that extends data access security and accountability in Pervasive PSQL systems without requiring codes changes to your application.

Please review these release notes for last-minute information not included in the AuditMaster user documentation.

Pervasive Software is dedicated to providing new and improved functionality with each release of AuditMaster to help you manage your data monitoring needs. The following section outlines some of the features and enhancements found in this release.

Features

Pervasive AuditMaster v8 is an upgrade from all previous versions of AuditMaster. The upgrade enables the functionality of your previous release to be compatible with Pervasive PSQL Vx Server and other Pervasive PSQL products. See Supported Database Products.

You do not need to uninstall the previous version of AuditMaster to upgrade. Pervasive AuditMaster v8 can be upgraded directly on any existing version. Pervasive AuditMaster installs using the same directories used with your Pervasive PSQL product.

System Requirements

The following lists the supported operating systems and the required Pervasive Software platforms for Pervasive AuditMaster v8.

Supported Operating Systems

Pervasive AuditMaster v8 is supported on the same platforms as Pervasive PSQL v11 Server and Pervasive PSQL Vx Server 11. For a complete list of the supported operating systems, refer to the Pervasive Software Web site (http://www.pervasivedb.com).

Supported Database Products

Pervasive AuditMaster v8 is a Windows-only product supported by the following Pervasive PSQL database products.

Pervasive PSQL Vx Server

Pervasive PSQL v11 SP1 Server

Pervasive PSQL v11 Server

Download a trail version, or purchase a non-trial version, of Pervasive AuditMaster v8 from the Pervasive Software Web site (http://www.pervasivedb.com).

Installation Notes

After reading these notes, see Pervasive AuditMaster User’s Guide for additional installation information and configuration procedures.

You must have Administrator rights to install this product.

To run AuditMaster under Pervasive PSQL Security, see the user documentation for instructions.

Before starting installation, disable antivirus and antispyware applications. You may re-enable them immediately after installation. Antispyware can be left enabled, but be prepared when prompted to allow various installation tasks to execute.

You need Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later to open and read or print the PDF files for the user documentation. If needed, install Acrobat Reader from the \Books\Acroread folder on the AuditMaster CD-ROM, or download the reader free of charge from www.adobe.com.

Trial License Information

If you are installing AuditMaster on a trial basis without entering a license key, please read the following notes:

After the trial period ends, AuditMaster will quit auditing the next time Pervasive PSQL services restart. The AuditMaster status log also will display an entry noting that the license has expired and no auditing is occurring.

You can verify your licenses using the Pervasive PSQL Software License Administrator utility.

Pervasive AuditMaster v8 can be used with Pervasive PSQL Vx Server and with Pervasive PSQL v11. However, the License Administrator provided with Pervasive PSQL v11 does not correctly display all of the attributes of AuditMaster V8 licenses. An update is available for the Pervasive PSQL v11 database engine. If you apply the latest update, then License Administrator on the database engine machine and on each Pervasive PSQL v11 Client correctly displays all of the attributes of AuditMaster V8 licenses.

If your AuditMaster license is valid, but your trial license for the database product expires, you will receive a number of different errors depending on what operation you are attempting in AuditMaster. For instance, the viewer may return an error saying that the database is unavailable. To continue using AuditMaster, contact Pervasive Software sales to purchase a permanent key for the database product. Apply the new key and restart the PSQL services.

Upgrading from Earlier Versions

If you are upgrading from version 6.x or 7.x, you do not need to uninstall it. Pervasive AuditMaster v8 can be installed as an upgrade to your version without loss of existing audit records, settings, or saved queries, reports, or alerts.

To upgrade from version 5.2 or earlier, contact Pervasive Technical Support and ask for a free cleanup utility to remove the 5.x product before installing the most recent version as a new application.

Note that versions of Pervasive AuditMaster prior to v8 are not compatible with Pervasive PSQL Vx Server.

Known Issues


Issue Number	Description
61189	The text search feature in AuditMaster Viewer does not return correct results when a whole word is used for the search. Work around: Remove the first letter of the word to obtain match results. For example, to obtain search results for the word “Master,” search for “aster” instead of “Master.”
61193	In the AuditMaster 64-bit edition, Schema Maintenance Wizard does not display a default server for the Audit server. Work around: Select the entry for the local server in the list for Audit server. The local server is in the list, it is just not selected by default.
61194	In the AuditMaster 64-bit edition, Query Data-Model Generator Utility (QDMG) fails unless the “–a” option is specified. Work around: Ensure that you specify the “–a” command line option to point to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Pervasive Software\PSQL\Audit\DATA location.
