What are some of the key features of Pervasive PSQL Vx Server?
The following is a short list of the key features of Pervasive PSQL Vx. For more detailed information, please read the Pervasive PSQL Vx. Product Guide

When should customers use Pervasive PSQL Vx Server?
Customers who have IT environments with multiple VMs involving automated processes moving VMs across different physical servers should use Pervasive PSQL Vx. Customers who need fault tolerance and high availability in a VM environment should use Pervasive PSQL VX. The increased flexibility in the license validation process means that moving, cloning and copying VMs support PSQL applications is now much easier to manage.

Will Pervasive PSQL Vx Server work with my existing PSQL applications?
Yes. Applications that run on Pervasive PSQL v11 will also work with Pervasive PSQL Vx. Pervasive PSQL Vx is built using Pervasive

Is Pervasive PSQL Vx Server available in a workgroup version?
No. Pervasive PSQL Vx is available only in a server version. If you are interested in a workgroup version of Pervasive PSQL Vx, please send an email with your requirements to database@pervasive.com.

How is Pervasive PSQL VX Server priced?
Pervasive PSQL Vx Server licenses are priced based on the capacity of the database, or how much work it can do. Pervasive calculates the capacity of a Pervasive PSQL Vx Server database using two factors: 1) the number of concurrent sessions (internal data-consuming connections to the transactional or relational engine), and 2) data in use (total size of all the files opened by the database at any given point in time).

What size Pervasive PSQL Vx Server should I license?
Pervasive PSQL Vx Server is available in Small, Medium, Large and SuperSize. For fine tuning, both permanent and time-limited concurrent session and data in use increases are available. Click here to estimate the size of PSQL Vx Server required.

When will Pervasive PSQL Vx Server be available for purchase?
We expect to begin shipping Pervasive PSQL Vx Server in late January of 2012. The date of General Availability depends upon the success of the release candidate version.

Can Pervasive PSQL Vx be cloned or copied?
Yes, if your virtualization product supports copying and cloning and if your PSQL Vx license allows it. Additional instances of Pervasive PSQL Vx, such as those for a cloned or copied VM, require their own license.

Can Pervasive PSQL Vx be used with resource pools and templates?
Yes, if your virtualization product supports them. Pervasive PSQL Vx should be authorized in each VM resource pool where you want to have a copy of PSQL Vx. To make sure that Pervasive PSQL Vx is properly authorized in VMs launching from a template, use a configuration script that invokes clilcadm to authorize the Pervasive PSQL Vx key during the customization of the guest operating system. Details on using clilcadm are in the Pervasive PSQL User's Guide.

Does Pervasive PSQL Vx require an Internet connection for authorization?
Yes, an Internet connection is required for initially authorizing an instance of Pervasive PSQL Vx and for ongoing validation of the PSQL Vx license.

What happens if the Internet connection is interrupted?
Pervasive PSQL Vx periodically connects to the Pervasive licensing server to validate PSQL Vx licenses. If the connection to the licensing server is unavailable, the PSQL Vx product key state changes from Active to Failed Validation. If the connection to the Pervasive licensing server is not reestablished in 30 days, the key state changes to Disabled. If Pervasive PSQL Vx does reestablish a connection with the Pervasive licensing server while the key is in the Failed Validation state and the validation check is passed, the key state returns to Active.

Will a Pervasive PSQL Vx key work with Pervasive PSQL Server or Pervasive PSQL Workgroup?
No. Pervasive PSQL Vx, PSQL Server and PSQL Workgroup are all separate products and require their own product keys.
